A Feast Day to be remembered

By beginning with a grand welcome from the school’s Kapa Haka group and later becoming an audience to spectacular musical pieces by the school choir, Feast Day mass was filled with melodic songs and numerous skilled performances. However, what made Feast Day Mass so exceptional was the large group of students and teachers who were Baptised, Confirmed or received their first Holy Communion.

On this special occasion, the College not only celebrated the day when several members of our school community became full members of the Church, but mainly commemorated Mary’s visit to Elizabeth. While Mary was pregnant with Jesus, she selflessly went on a difficult journey to visit her similarly pregnant cousin, Elizabeth. The aspect of the school prayer, “Heavenly Father, we thank you for gathering us together in faith. We pray that Mary’s integrity and humility will continue to guide us on our journey through Sancta Maria College,” could not be better portrayed than on Thursday for Sancta Maria College’s annual Feast Day.

With the Bishop of Auckland, Bishop Pat, as well as Father Craig and Father Kevin concelebrating the Mass, the school community was especially reminded through the scripture of the Visitation, to be devoted and have faith just like Mary did.
