A Successful Day of Rhythmic Gymnastics

A team of six girls from Year 9 and 10 headed out with Mrs Croxford in the school van, our mission – to compete at the Auckland Secondary Schools’ Competition for rhythmic gymnastics.

Our team consisted of four girls, Kylie Green-Thompson, Sydney Causer, Sophia Ibbetson, and Hailey Samasoni. We had been training for weeks to learn and perfect a routine. We completed the routine in front of the judges twice, a scary thing to do as some of us had never done rhythmic gymnastics before or competed at a competition.

The girls completed the routine to near perfection and at prize giving they were shocked and ecstatic to receive a second place medal! The team stayed behind to support three girls who were competing in their own individual gymnastics. Aimee Edwards in women’s artistic and Louisa Nelson and Daniela Romero Mittelstaedt in rhythmic gymnastics. It was a great day to try new things and have some fun.
