Business Studies

The course involves a practical business experience where with a group of others, students are required to operate their own small businesses. This practical project is supported with learning across a range of concepts including marketing, human resources, operations management, business structure and the factors that influence how businesses operate. Students will gain a broad appreciation for many functions of a business’s operations from experiencing their own business activity and learning of related theory.

The course also involves practical examination of how and why New Zealand businesses operate in global markets. This involves students investigating and analysing the internal and external factors influencing businesses in a global context.

Students carry out, with consultation, an innovative and sustainable activity. They will develop a marketing plan for a new or existing product and understand how and why New Zealand businesses operating in global markets make operational and strategic decisions in response to interacting internal factors.

Student s achieve NCEA credits at levels 1-3.
