Travel and Tourism

Travel and Tourism is one of the expanding areas in the New Zealand economy. As a tourist destination New Zealand has to be prepared to provide quality service to discerning overseas visitors.

In this course students will look at the essential skills and knowledge needed to work in this industry. Focussing on New Zealand, Australia and the South West Pacific students will study the contribution and significance of tourism to world and New Zealand economies and how to promote New Zealand as a tourist destination.

Students complete this course over Years 12 and 13 and gain the nationally recognised National Certificate in Travel and Tourism Introductory skills as well as gaining Unit Standards towards NCEA qualification. Success in this course provided direct links to tertiary training institutions.
