Maori & Pasifika

The Maori and Pasifika Student Council is organizing a number of support initiatives to enable students to reach their academic potential this year.

These initiatives include:

Homework Club (known as the Wednesday club)

One on one and small group mentoring

Level assemblies to give advice on NCEA

The purpose of this letter is to inform you of the Maori and Pasifika Homework Club.

This will operate every Wednesday from 3.30pm to 5.00pm in the school Library.  It will commence on Wednesday 11 March.

At least two Student Council members will be there every Wednesday to give assistance if any student requires help with homework or assignments.  Some staff have also volunteered.

Students will need to “sign in” as we wish to monitor the effectiveness of the Homework Club.  They do not have to arrive at 3.30pm nor stay till 5.00pm.

Many students wait around after school for parents to pick them up between 4.30pm and 5.00pm.

Here is an opportunity for them to use this time effectively.

Please encourage your son / daughter to become involved.  If it is successful we may extend it to other nights.  We will get feedback at the end of Term 2.

Yours sincerely

Marise Judd
