Double success for Harrison

Over Easter weekend Year 8 student Harrison Edwards competed in the NZ Orienteering Nationals. This was his first time competing at nationals and he competed in the 14A grade.

On the Friday he competed in the sprint at Auckland University and placed 8th out of 21 boys. On Saturday he competed in the long-distance forest course up at Woodhill Forest which was 5.1km. Harrison placed 3rd and received a bronze medal.

On Sunday we were up at Woodhill Forest again for the middle-distance course of 2.9km. Harrison placed 3rd and received another bronze medal. Nationals is the highest level of competition that can be found in NZ for orienteering so this was a big achievement for Harrison to have done so well against many boys who have been orienteering since they were young.
