For Tayler, Karting is the way to go

Eighteen months ago Tayler’s dad suggested he try Karting. Now Tayler travels around the North Island following his passion for speed, building an impressive CV on the way.

After a couple of months training and practising at the Mt Wellington track young Tayler, a Year 7 student at the College, knew this was a sport he wanted to pursue. Driving in the Vortex Mini ROK class Tayler has had success wherever he has competed.

In the Wellington Gold Star Series he finished 6th, and in the Summer Slam 2018 in Whangarei he claimed third spot. A few weeks ago at a meet at Rosebank he won four of his five races, coming first in his class.

Tayler’s good form culminated in him taking out fifth position in the New Zealand National Sprint Championships in Rotorua over Easter weekend.

Next year Tayler hopes to compete on South Island tracks as well. Tayler says that although he feels nervous during the warm up before the races, once the flag goes down the adrenaline kicks in and everything comes together.

Tayler is fully focused on improving on the track and has a goal of one day sitting in the driver’s seat of a V8 Super Car.
