From Auckland to Hong Kong, Emmanuel Tsang is living her ice skating dream

Year 7 Emmanuel Tsang is the epitome of hard work and determination. She is a solo ice figure skater and has found success around the world, including in Hong Kong and Australia.

Emmanuel is a member of the Auckland Ice Figure skating club and recently had the opportunity to travel to Hong Kong to compete in the Asian Open Trophy Competition where she represented New Zealand. She placed 12th and was very happy with her achievements. She went up against other skaters from around the world and felt very lucky to be able to showcase her skills on such a big stage.

Emmanuel said that she felt very nervous but excited as she prepared to perform in the biggest competition she has ever entered. Emmanuel said that breathing in and out helped to calm her down and do better. At the end of the 2 day event, she had a total score of 26.38 which was pretty good.

Unfortunately her parents were unable to travel with her but they were definitely proud of what Emmanuel was able to do and how brave she was, which she said is an important aspect of being an ice skater.

Emmanuel has trainings every week in the mornings and afternoons and she is very committed to improving and learning new techniques to improve her skills. This commitment has seen her move up to the next level in her skating which means she is now competing against tougher opponents.

Another amazing achievement by Emmanuel was earlier this month when she took part in the New Zealand Nationals in Dunedin and competed in the Ladies Basic Novice B category, coming out with a whopping 34.16 score and placing 1st overall. It was sign of more awesome things to come as Emmanuel looks to keep climbing new heights and inspiring others to take up this great sport.
