Gateway students visit Ocean Race Village

Students from several secondary schools who are on the Gateway Programme or who are interested in the Marine Industry were invited by New Zealand Marine to a guided tour of the Volvo Ocean Race Village.

They observed sail makers, riggers, boat builders, marine systems engineer and marine electricians in action working on the yachts. As part of the tour Bianca Cook, a New Zealander who is crew on “ Turn the Tide on Plastic”, shared her journey with us.

This was a very informative day and it was great, despite the wet weather, to see the crew and teams in action at the village.
