Interview with Jake and Ella – our Doody and Frenchy

Jake Featherstone is a Year 13 drama student who has had a passion for performing from a really young age. He has been a drama student at Sancta Maria College for the past 4 years, and is enjoying every aspect of the subject.
Jake tells us, “Doody is a very unique character and when he is with his best friends (Roger and Sonny) there’s no one who will have more fun or get up to more mischief. This is what I can relate to and love about my character.

When I saw that I would be playing Doody my first reaction was, “Who is that?” But the instant I re-watched the movie I fell in love with his cheeky personality, mixed with his loyal nature. I auditioned for production this year because performing arts is a passion of mine and has been since a young age, I just couldn’t wait to be part of a high quality production and couldn’t miss the opportunity when it came around.”

Jake continues, “The whole cast has put in a lot of hard work for this and I hope it shows when we perform and the audience has as much fun watching it as I know we will performing it.”

Ella Flores is in Year 12 and currently a drama student. In ‘Grease’ she plays our ‘Beauty School Dropout’, Frenchy.

Ella tells us, “I will be playing the role of ‘Frenchy’, the pink lady we all know as the beauty school dropout. I was very happy when I found out I was cast as Frenchy, I remember not being able to sit still for the rest of my classes that day. I auditioned because I have a passion for performing and I also wanted to make the greatest memories ever in my senior years of school.”

Ella continues, “Being able to do a major school production is a once in a lifetime experience, the bond and memories already created by the cast will be something I’ll never forget. All our hard work with the dancing, singing and acting will be shown on that stage and it will be insane. I hope that the audience will be stunned by everything.”
