Year 8s had fun today finding out how mathematics can be used to solve everyday problems.
Through problem-solving activities such as ‘Mouse in the House’, ‘Pattern Play’, ‘Off the Island’ and ‘Square It Up’ the students discovered that mathematics is not hard, it is fun. In groups of four, the Year 8s worked as a team, solving problems through discussion and hands-on experience.
Moving from activity to activity they soon realised that mathematics is not just something in a textbook, it is an important part of everyday life.
