Japan, here we come

At lunch time Mass a special blessing was given to the sixteen students and three staff heading away to Japan on an educational trip. The Japanese language students will get a chance to experience the authentic Japanese way of life and practice their Japanese language skills.

Our Digital Technology students will, in addition to the language and cultural experiences, have the opportunity to observe and experience the digital aspects of Japanese city life and society.

To prepare for the trip the students have organised origami folding of paper cranes at school during interval and lunch over the last three weeks. The goal is to fold 1000 paper cranes (just over 700 have already been folded). They will then be strung together in 10 separate strings of 100 cranes each. They will be boxed and carried with us to Hiroshima World Peace Park in Japan where they will be laid at the Children Memorial Statue.

The group leaves for Japan on Wednesday April 13, returning Thursday April 28.  The itinerary includes visits to Hiroshima, Kyoto, Osaka, Tokyo, Yokohama and Kamakura.
