Music students show faith in song

Our Year 11 NCEA Music students have submitted three entries in to this year’s Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand Song Writing Competition.

With the theme of ‘sing out for justice’, the students composed songs that expressed a desire for a fairer world through faith.

Maris Balili, Audrie Mamaradlo, Daniella Joven, Patrick De Vera and Anna Nguyen combined to write a song entitled ‘Anthem of our faith’; Maddy Maximiano and Sam Tan crafted a piece called ‘If only peace were in our land’, whilst Grace Sih, Leuasa Ensink and Lidia Lirato submitted a similarly named song, ‘If only’.

This is the first time in over four years that Sancta Maria College students have entered this competition and their songs have become part of their NCEA coursework. We look forward to hearing from the judges and entering more songs in the future.
