Pleasing results for Cross Country runners

Overcast skies, muddy tracks and gloomy weather, welcomed the many students who were running the course at the Auckland Central and East Secondary School, Cross Country Championship that was held at Lloyd Elsmore Park in Pakuranga.

Our Sancta Maria College students didn’t let the weather stop them from achieving brilliant results and from doing their best. In fact, it gave them that extra motivation to do well and in particular there were some great results from the Junior Boys and Intermediate Girls who both ran over a 4km course.

Representing the school in the Under 14 category were Year 8s Reuben Cooper who placed 33rd, Tyler Halliday who came 40th and Kiran Harry who came 44th. The three boys also finished in 8th position in the 3 man team event.

Representing the Intermediate girls, Anna Faulkner (Year 11) came 6th with a time of 16:53 and her sister, Jade Faulkner (Year 10) finished in 24thplace, and another Year 11 student, Ellen Fromont came 29th giving Sancta Maria 5th place in the 3 team event for Intermediate Under 16 girls.

Special thanks also to Amanda Bidesi for an excellent job marshalling at the event and to Mrs Cummings for accompanying the students and for showing her support.
