Revolution Tour comes to Sancta Maria College

The Year 7 and 8 students enjoyed the performance by the Revolution Tour. They spread their message to us through dance, singing and comedic life experiences. Their message was about bullying and how to deal with it. Revolution stands up for the people who can’t stand up for themselves.

They explained to us that people bully because of a build-up of annoyances. It’s like you have an imaginary bucket and every time something annoys you, like if you forgot to charge your phone, your bucket fills up a bit. Bullies have an overfull bucket. If you are getting bullied, you should talk to an adult you trust.

A life experience they shared with us was how one of the Revolution members cheated in swimming races. He had long legs and his feet could touch the bottom of the school pool and he would walk half the race. He wanted to win the races, so people would be his friend.

When he went to an inter-school competition, the pool was deeper and his feet couldn’t touch the bottom of the pool. He started drowning and he fainted. The whole school knew what happened and he didn’t make any friends. This teaches us a lesson: be yourself and you’ll make friends, being ‘popular’ isn’t the key to friendship. Be the best ‘you’ because nobody else can be you.
