Our Year 12 and 13 Gateway students participated in a Schools’ Health and Safety programme run by Safety ‘n Action.
They studied Health and Safety requirements in the work place and the purposes of the Health and Safety Act, administered and enforced by Worksafe NZ.
The course aimed to create amongst the students an awareness of the number and cause of accidents occurring in work situations and the right to work in a safe and risk free environment.
Towards the end of the day the students were challenged to find potential hazards in the school environment and suggest ways of addressing the problem.
