SMC ripping it up at the Eastern Tag Tournament

With the sun out and shining bright, the senior tag players from Sancta Maria College arrived at the Ngati Otara Park ready to put their practice into action and have some fun.

With the senior boys having a bye first, they bunched together on the sideline, cheering on the senior girls for their first game of the day. Although they tried their best and scored a few tries, the girls unfortunately could not seal the win. The same can be said for the boys’ first game. Despite showing undeniably impressive skills, their opponent proved to be that little bit stronger.

With the heat kicking in, all players and coaches present could really feel the toll it was physically taking on them. Overcoming both the heat and a couple of losses, both teams pulled through with their first win of the day. The boys were able to express their talent and pull through with more wins adding up to 4 wins overall. However, the girls team weren’t so lucky losing their final game to the same team they had beaten earlier in the day.

Despite the losses, both teams were able to build on their mistakes and learn from them, proving their determination and love for the game. All in all, it is safe to say that everyone had a great day and for the Year 13 players, they had a blast playing their last tag tournament for the school.
