Supporting Sea Week at Sancta Maria College

In June 2016, Sancta Maria College raised the awareness of World Ocean day by urging everyone in the school to take action to prevent plastic pollution in our oceans. The tuck shop supported this cause by selling pies in paper bags instead of plastic bags.

This year, the environmental team extended their concern of the impact of plastic bags on marine life and the sea by inviting teachers to donate spare change or to exchange a bag of plastic bags for a reusable shopping bag to support ‘Sea week’ from 25 February to 5 March. The money collected will be used to purchase and install a new water fountain for A block.

A massive thank you to Bunnings Botany for supplying the bags.
