Tiaki Expo

Last Friday saw Technology teacher Dr Henderson and eleven students at the Vodafone Events Centre attending the Tiaki Competition; a competition in support of care for the environment.

Shaun Wright and Timothy Chua were entered in this competition with their electric Go-Kart that promotes the use of renewable, cheap and environmentally-friendly energy.

Other projects entered from various schools were: solar panel charging stations, water filtration systems, and the idea of a beehive which encouraged schools to have their own.

However, the day was not just about the competitors, but also in attendance were representatives from various companies and groups such as IEROSPACE, Plastic Diet, Transpower and Auckland University, to educate the youth about the bigger projects happening currently; an example being the concept of 3D printed cars.

While Shaun and Timothy did not place, they did receive an honorable mention, and we congratulate them for their efforts.
