Time to leave France

After spending the long week with their home stay families, the students returned fresh to school on Tuesday to carry out their last full day in France with their families.

Only they weren’t staying in France but instead going to Belgium on a day trip. The group took a bus just across the border to the town of Bruges. The group saw the towns picturesque landscape slightly resembling Venice as they took a boat tour of the town where intertwining rivers made most of the houses back onto water.

After this the group had free time to venture round the town. This included chocolate buying as many have saved this task until this day due to the many Belgian chocolate shops.

A few also indulged in the likes of Belgian waffles and french fries ( while the name suggests that it’s French, it actually comes from Belgium).

Once back in Arras the group spent their last night together at a farewell dinner put on for them at the school. The group sang some Kiwi songs and savoured the French food provided as they would be leaving early the next morning. It was a sentimental experience as many of us might not see each other again but we would still cherish the memories made.

The next morning at the station the group gave their final goodbyes and hugs before departing on the train back to Paris. This consisted of many tears and, while it’s sad to leave, it’s always nice to be back in the comfort of your own home speaking your own language.
