Year 8s tackle Mathex

As soon as we could open the envelope with the first question in it, the stadium was filled with the noise of people running and talking. We could feel the ground shaking with a large number of runners sprinting with the answers.

It was an intense Mathex competition, with some of the questions proving to be difficult and incredible mathematicians going up against us. We worked for thirty minutes to the rhythm of runners, eager to finish all twenty questions.

The final five seconds of the competition were frantic with most of the runners in the stadium dashing to enter their last answers – rushing so much one even fell down! Unfortunately, both of our Year 8 teams ran out of time to finish but still did us proud with scores of 80 and 35.
