Year 9 Orienteering duo compete on the Kapiti Coast

It was an adventure-filled and thrilling school holidays for Year 9 students Harrison Edwards and Ryan Clifford as they competed in the North Island Secondary School Orienteering Championships on the Kapiti Coast.

Harrison and Ryan, who burst onto the Orienteering scene just last year, once again showed why they are so amazing at the sport and why they continue to do so well in the different competitions that they frequently take part in. During the two day event held in the last week of the Term 1 school holidays, they represented Sancta Maria College with passion, pride and heart and worked together as a team right to the end.

Harrison was able to earn 1st place in the Junior Boys sprint on the first day and went up against 53 other boys from around the North Island. He received a certificate and an engraved mug that he’ll surely treasure. He also came 3rd in the long championship on the second day and came so close to placing 1st with a time that was only 16 seconds behind the winner.

It was a great competition to be a part of for both boys who competed to the best of their ability and don’t look like they’re going to stop anytime soon. Do expect to hear more inspiring news from this competitive duo.
