Young Vinnies acts of service acknowledged

The school was paid a special visit by members of St Vincent De Paul to acknowledge Sancta Maria College’s acts of service throughout the year.

We were able to reflect on our experiences as Young Vinnies, such as bringing comfort to families in the Ronald McDonald House by cooking for them, giving company to the elderly through retirement home visits and collecting thousands of dollars worth of cans for those in need of food during the Christmas season. These opportunities of service have allowed us to experience growth and spiritual nourishment through the many people we have been able to help.

Sancta Maria College was presented with the Frederic Ozanam Award, named after the founder of St Vincent De Paul, by the South Auckland St Vincent De Paul President, Toni Greatbatch, in recognition of our many acts of service this year. Students and leaders were also awarded certificates for their efforts. Thanks was also given to Ms Fouhy, the main teacher support for the Vinnies this year.
