Young Vinnies and Mini Vinnies visit the Bruce McLaren retirement village

For Term Two, the St Vincent de Paul society,“The Young Vinnies and the Mini Vinnies”, are voluntarily committing to rest home visits after school on Wednesday. This is to provide a sense of service to the community where they learn to grow out of their comfort zones and be ideal leaders by giving service to others.

The students involved operate in a simple manner that creates a big impact. They give the residents of the Bruce McLaren retirement village happiness and joy in more ways than we can imagine. These visits help give back to the citizens who have now retired and by being with them we offer them companionship and entertain them with jokes. The students take time getting to know their story and learn the important lesson that listening is often more important then talking.

This outreach program will continue until Term Three and will hopefully make a big difference to the lives of the students and rest home residents alike.
