2024 Sports Award Winners

Congratulations to all our students who represented their respective sporting codes during the 2024 season.  We would especially like to congratulate the following students:

Individual Code Award winners 

Athletics The following students were our top performers at the College Sport Auckland Athletics Championships this year: 

  • Thalia Lam: 2nd Junior Girls Shot Put, 3rd Junior Girls Discus 
  • Arnika Lam: 10th Intermediate Girls Shot Put, 11th Intermediate Girls Discus 
  • Antonie Smal: 6th Senior Boys Shot Put, 7th Senior Boys Discus 
  • Cesar Garcia Soto: 7th Junior Boys Long Jump, 1st Junior Boys 300m, 4th Junior Boys 800m
  • Athletics Cup for Most Outstanding Athlete (Track and Field): Cesar Garcia Soto 

Cycling The following students were our top performers in the Auckland Schools Mountain Biking Series:

  • Jason Cooper: 1st in the U17 Male series 
  • Lucas Cooper: 3rd in the U20 Male series 

Gym sports – The following students were our top performers at regional and national gymnastics events for the year:   

  • Cara Cozo: 1st in Artistic at Auckland Championship, 3rd in Balance Beam, 4th in Individual All Round and Artistry Award at New Zealand Secondary Schools Championship
  • Blake Pennington: 1st in Sub Junior Double Mini Tramp, 2nd in 13-14 Age grade Men’s Trampoline at New Zealand Secondary Schools Championship 
  • Bree Pennington: 2nd in Group Grade 4 at New Zealand Secondary Schools Championship 
  • Thomas King: 3rd in U22 Men’s Tumbling at Australian Gymnastics Championship  

Orienteering The following recipients have been selected from our group of athletes who have competed in the Sprint Series and other events throughout the year: 

  • Sportsmanship award for attitude, effort and sportsmanship: Nicholas Jackson-Potter 
  • Most Outstanding Orienteer: Cameron Motion 

Swimming The following recipients have been selected from our group of swimmers who have competed in the Auckland Championships and other events throughout the year: 

  • Hayden Ling: 200m Breaststroke Bronze Medal at AIMS Games 
  • Ariana Neems: 50m Breaststroke Silver Medal at Auckland Junior Championship  
  • Ava Neems: 6th in 50m Breaststroke and 7th in 100m Breaststroke at National Age Group Championship 
  • Sophia Neems: 7th in 400m Individual Medley at National Age Group Championship 
  • Sean Atis-Viray: 9th in 50m Breaststroke at Auckland Individual Championship 
  • Fiona Sheng: Silver Medal in 50m Freestyle, Bronze Medal in 100m Freestyle, 4th in 100m Butterfly, 5th in 100m Individual Medley at Auckland Individual Championship
