8CLE become Editors for the day

8CLE have been learning to be editors and were tasked with writing to the local newspaper to describe a place of interest they had been to for a ‘Snapshot’ competition.

Ariel Chua won with ‘Hawker Centre’, closely followed by Trisha Faye with her description of Barry Curtis Park and Zachary Calumpiano on Timezone took 3rd place.  Here are their winning submissions:

Hawker Centre

At the heart of Singapore, the bustling hawker centre is a sensory wonderland.

People chatter like songbirds, their laughter echoing off the tin roof.

Stalls line the perimeter, each a treasure trove of culinary delights.

The rich aroma of satay, char kway teow, and laksa fills the air, making your mouth water.

Sellers shout their specials, their voices blending into a symphony of sounds.

Stray cats weave through legs, hoping for a bite to fall.

The humid air clings to your skin, mingling with the sizzling heat from the grills.

Among this chaotic harmony, the hawker centre is a vibrant tapestry of life, culture, and flavour.

Every corner bursts with energy, inviting you to explore and savour the diverse offerings.

It is a lively experience where all your senses come alive!

Barry Curtis Park, found in Flat Bush, Auckland, is a welcoming destination for families to enjoy.

This peaceful park offers a serene environment perfect for morning walks, picnics, and children’s playtime in the playground.

Spanning a large area, Barry Curtis Park features various walking paths and bike trails that encompass the entire park.

In the vibrant seasons of Spring and Summer, the park comes alive with kids flying kites in the open field, picking blooming flowers, capturing photos of the cherry blossom trees, and indulging in picnics beneath the shady trees.

However, during the quieter seasons of Autumn and Winter, the park takes on a more subdued atmosphere, especially when rain leaves it empty and sombre.

As the sun sets, a sense of tranquillity envelops the park, illuminated by gentle lights scattered throughout, creating a peaceful ambiance where even the soft whispers of the wind can be heard.

In conclusion, this park truly offers a delightful experience for everyone, making it a truly remarkable place to visit.
