Thursday 18th – Friday 19th March concluded the volleyball season for the U19 Volleyball girls team. Through the many hardworking weeks of training and after school Thursday zone games, the girls finally made their way to the Auckland Volleyball Championships held in the Pulman Arena. Although the first day was rough with 3 losses to Northcote College, Southern Cross Campus and Diocesan School for Girls, the girls were able to make a comeback with a great win against Massey College and tight game with Papatoetoe Highschool and Diocesan School for Girls (lost both).
Captain of the team, Sandra Heruela tells us about how she found the season this year. “I think volleyball this year was definitely challenging for all of us as individuals. We’ve all worked extremely hard to develop our skills in the sport these past few months and after the countless trainings, I am honestly so proud with how far everyone has come. We’ve all improved on something we personally wanted to achieve and also created such a pure, strong bond as a team. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to be this team’s captain and I can’t wait to play again with them all next year”.
A massive thanks to Coach Amy for the consistent pushes and encouragement towards the team. With it, the girls continue to improve their passes, spikes, serves and sets, creating this successful week.
