We welcomed our returning students and a number of new short term international students into our school whānau at the start of term 1.
As a welcome to New Zealand and to help bond our international team, they enjoyed an afternoon at Cockle Bay beach – our students experienced fish and chips (some for the first time!) and time playing outdoor games on the beach.
We welcomed a large group of Japanese students from Shinagawa Junior High School on 4 March 2024, who are visiting our school for two weeks. They were once again hosted by our school community and enjoyed trips to Auckland Zoo and University during their stay. As a farewell, they sang our national anthem beautifully, gave a group demonstration of synchronised moves in Karate and each presented about their experience with a comparison to their life in Japan.
On 12 March, we welcomed five new international students from Thailand on into our school whānau.
Students: (left to right) Namo Pongpumpiched, KlaThamsoonthorn, Nabtang Sorsomboon, Manna Wairatpanij, Hana Thianyoi, with their agents and representatives, Mrs Sirintorn Duangkhot and Ms Panthip Kiatpattanachai.
The students from this group visited various places in New Zealand before joining us and have returned on this trip to spend two months at Sancta Maria College. We sadly said farewell to them on 10 May 2024 and wished them well on their travels home with a poroporoāki from our kapa haka students.
