Three of our Symphonia players attended a workshop in conducting mid-March at the Somervell Church in Remuera. Working with the Bach Musica orchestra and choir, the course was led by conductor Rita Paczian.
Our Performing Arts Music Prefect Martina Sanchez was joined by two of our Year 8 Music Leaders, Joanna Ma and Katherine Chiang. All three of our students learned to conduct both the orchestra and choir, conducting pieces by Bach and Praetorius.
Despite feeling a little intimidated at first, all three girls had a great day and will be able to bring these new skills back to Sancta Maria College to help our young players develop in our Festival Orchestra and other ensembles.
