Nineteen students recently had the opportunity to participate in a two day first aid experience. They became proficient in basic positions for recovery, C.P.R., as well as being able to assess and treat accident casualties.
The course ranged from classroom theory to hands on practice on dummies, to fully staged scenarios of accidents and car crashes. Tim O’Connell’s portrayal of a crash victim amputee was particularly memorable. It was a valuable course, giving the students confidence in dealing with stressful and demanding situations. Overall it was an enjoyable and very instructive programme.
