At the award ceremony Minju was recognised as displaying leadership qualities that Sir Peter himself would have recognised.
Shelley Campbell, CEO of the Sir Peter Blake Trust says,
“Minju Kim is a fantastic young leader. She takes on new challenges day to day and always puts her hand up to lead these new challenges. She is a respectful leader, who acknowledges and incorporates different ideas of others in her team work. All students enjoy working with her. She uses her initiative and kindness to help others when in need. For example, when seeing her teacher carrying heavy loads, she is always one of the first to notice and offer a helping hand.
Minju Kim is involved in a range of orchestra bands for the school. She shows genuine care for the environment through her participation in rewarding activities the environmental team offers. She has also taken part in many competitive athletic events. You can trust that her keen hand will be up when a presentation speaker for the school is needed. She is confident and willing to share her positive experiences with the school community. She is a worthy recipient of this award.”
460 schools from Northland to Bluff celebrated their aspiring Year 5 to 8 leaders. The Young Leader Awards, in association with Westpac, acknowledge young people whose outstanding leadership uplifts the school community.
