Today saw Sancta Maria College compete in the group vocal and solo instrumental heats of Stand Up Stand Out.
First up were Helta Scelta, comprising of Lauren Chalk, Catherine Vaiaingina, Adora Rodrigues, Helen Pahulu and Anton Vargas, who sang a wonderful rendition of the song ‘Oceans’.
So good were Helta Scelta that they were chosen by the judges as one of the finalists for Friday, 26 August.
They were followed on stage by Dolce Amore, comprising of three Year 10 students: Audrie Mamaradlo, Maris Balili and Anna Nguyen, who sang ‘Sad Song’ quite beautifully.
Finally, Ben Sim took to the stage to play ‘River flows in you’ and made a fine first public performance.
This coming Monday will see our final entry of the year in to Stand Up Stand Out, when our Year 8 rock band, DMG, will deliver a suitably noisy version of Kasabian’s ‘Underdog’ to an unsuspecting audience in the Bands heat. This will be their debut public performance and if their rehearsals are anything to go by, then it should be blistering at the very least!
