The Auckland weather didn’t stop these future biologists from visiting their friends at Auckland Zoo.
An exciting day awaited the Year 13s as they were first welcomed with a brief presentation about animal behaviour to help the students survive their end of year External assessments.
They then got to play with various animal artefacts and fossils such as real rhinoceros and tiger skulls. After one hour of fun in the classroom, the zoo tour guide led the group outside to see live animals, starting with giraffes, to zebras and ostriches.
They ended the tour by having a go at the ‘flamingo dance.’ It was a day well spent as everyone scattered to see majestic tigers, adorable blue penguins, orangutangs, and many more wild animals.
A big thank you to the science department for this opportunity!
