21 new records set on Athletics Day

The Year 7 and 8 students went on a record-breaking spree last Friday, creating 17 new records.

Leading the way were brother and sister Zephaniah and Casey Lototau. Zephaniah set new records in the Y7 100m, discus, and long jump. His discus throw of 21.40m broke the previous record by more than 4m. Casey set new best times in the Y8 Girls 100m and 200m and her throw of just over 9m in the shotput easily surpassed the previous record of 7.27m.

New records were also set by Antonie Smal (Y7 shotput and 800m), Tandy Lincoln (Y7 High Jump), Cayleigh-Ann Ngapaku (Y7 400m), Nina Wilson (Y8 Long Jump and discus), Adela Lee (Y8 High Jump), Roman Stowers (Y8 shotput), Nathan Hunt (Y8 High Jump), Elias Hohua (Y8 discus) and Marco Leung (Y8 100m).

In the intermediate age group, Zachary Saunders set new records for the Long Jump and High Jump while Tristan Tualagi’s time of 10.97 seconds in the 100m easily bettered his previous record of 11.53s.

Abby Noble-Campbell set a new Senior Girls High Jump best of 1.64m eclipsing her previous record of 1.49m set in 2017.
