On Friday, our Year 12s had the opportunity to take part in the ‘Loves Me Not’ workshop.
The day started with the Year 12s put into random groups, each assigned to a police officer. The day consisted of us learning about what healthy and unhealthy relationships are and how to distinguish between them.
As we are getting older, maturing and learning more things, we have to know the difference and the meaning of each of our relationships. Throughout the day the message that struck us was “Abuse is never okay”. Abuse is never the way to deal with things and to make them right. And with this, it is our job to prevent situations involving abuse from happening.
Throughout the day we watched some ‘based on a true story’ videos that tugged some of our students’ heartstrings and visibly moved them. In addition, we also did some exercises that encouraged us to express our feelings and opinions to do with healthy and unhealthy relationships.
To wrap it up, it was a superb day for the Year 12s who enjoyed working with the police officers. Many thanks to the officers who gave up their time to teach us on this day of important learning.
