Looking for a ‘Young Star’

An introduction to country music awaited interested students at lunch time on Tuesday as the College prepares to enter the annual Young Stars Country Music Awards.

Members of the Eastern Districts Country Music Club performed an entertaining selection of Country and Western songs in the auditorium to a small but appreciative audience.

Early in Term 2 we will be entering around six acts into the Young Stars competition. Sancta Maria College is the current holder of the trophy thanks to the ‘star’ performer in 2017, Kayla Kippen. Unfortunately, the rules of the Country Music Awards do not allow previous winners to defend their title, so we are looking for new and exciting talent to take on the best from other schools.

The competition is open to Year 7 to 10 students and those interested in competing should see Mr Gibbs (Head of Music) for more information.
