The Great Easter battery hunt

Sancta Maria College Enviro Team have an environmentally and economically sustainable solution to propose to the community of Sancta Maria College.

UPCYCLE, one of New Zealand’s leading companies in E-waste disposal and recycling has offered to recycle our batteries… for free. This company has the vision to serve their community and to work in partnership with the environment.

These batteries, once recycled, will have another shot at life. Aside from that, it’s a universal truth that recycling benefits everyone. Batteries contain corrosive materials and heavy metals. Keeping batteries out of the landfill means that they won’t contaminate the environment and pose a threat to human health. On top of that, we will be sustaining our natural resources and lessening the need to hunt after new materials. This, in turn, saves the energy needed to make products out of these materials and reduces greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change. By supporting this initiative, we would also be creating new, well-paying jobs in the recycling and manufacturing industries of New Zealand.

This Easter, instead of hunting for eggs, hunt for batteries.

Batteries will be collected during homeroom after the Easter break.
