Baby Chickens

The first two weeks of Term 4 saw Sancta Maria College being given the privilege of looking after eleven baby chickens. The school was gifted these baby chickens by the Living Eggs Ready Hatch programme which provides schools with “all you need to successfully hatch chickens in your classroom.”

These eleven embryo eggs were placed in Mr Williamson’s biology laboratory, where students could come and watch the chickens hatch, as well as being able to hold them. Teachers, students and parents have been given the opportunity to take home the chickens. Some of the students who have picked up the baby chickens have described them as being, “cute and cuddly,” and “so fluffy!” This is the first year the school has done this and sends many thanks to the Living Eggs foundation.
