Who will win the shield? As the clock ticks and the day draws near, the heat is on as the Year 7s and 8s prepare to take on the challenge for the Stella Maris Shield. Homerooms will be competing against each other to win the Stella Maris Shield or the Stella Maris Trophy. The award will be presented at the Year 7 and 8 prizegiving.
The categories are: Catholic debate, Maori, English and Filipino Scripture reading, Catholic Seminar, Catholic Drama, Impromptu speech, Religious Questions and Religious art. The students will be competing in any one of those. Awards in each category will be presented at the end of the day.
This is done to reflect our school’s Catholic character and to get the students engaged in these religious activities. It is also done to prepare the juniors for the inter-college Pompallier Sheild Competition when they get into Year 9 and above.
The competition will be held on Friday November 23. Parents are welcome to come and support their children.
