In this series of articles, we find out about our student leaders, their background, roles and ambitions. Today we feature our Hokianga House Prefects, Braydon Burton and Gail Calicdan.
Braydon Burton and Gail Calicdan are our Hokianga house prefects for the year. As house prefects their main goals are to win the house cup for Hokianga and make house events bigger and more popular. They are part of the prefect team and make sure that house events (like athletics day) run smoothly.
Braydon is trying make house events bigger than they are now as athletics day is the only big house event. Braydon also used to play touch rugby for the school. He wants to study psychology at university. This is because he has always wanted to understand how the brain works and how we think.
Gail intends coming up with some new house activities so that everyone can feel more involved. Some of the things she is involved in outside of the classroom are the school production, volleyball and Young Vinnies.
Gail is also hoping to come up with an event for the mini Vinnies (the College’s middle school Vinnies group) to do with the primary school. Gail wants to teach primary students after she completes her tertiary education. She has always wanted to teach young children.
