After school on Thursday, members of the environment team as well as Mrs McCreath, Mr Gray and Dr Laux worked on the butterfly garden.
The team spent the afternoon laying down polythene sheets on the corners of the rectangle shape as done previously with the cross section of the garden. By laying down polythene sheets, this is an environmentally friendly way of killing the grass as no chemicals are used.
In the following weeks, the polythene sheets will be lifted and the dead weeds and grass will be pulled up so that the team can begin planting.
A huge thank you to the three teachers that helped as they are giving up their time and are providing Sancta Maria College students with an opportunity to serve the school and work on an awesome project.
