The U19 Premier Boys Basketball Team will be taking on Rosehill College next Tuesday in the School Gym with tip off at 5pm. The two sides will be fighting for third place in the Counties Manukau Open A Grade.
It’s taken a lot of hard work and heart for the U19 Boys to get to this point. In their semi-final against Manurewa they put in a strong effort but came up short by a single point – 37-36 in the closing ten seconds of the game.
Despite the result, it was that game which gave them the chance to be in this home match which is set to be a thrilling one. Rosehill come into the encounter, after going down to Aorere College by five points.
It will be the last game for the U19 Boys in the Counties Manukau grade before they begin their pursuit to qualify for the National Basketball Championships in September. A level of basketball that our College has never competed at before.
Coach of the U19 Boys Team, Mr Crummer said that competing at Nationals will be “an exciting opportunity for our students to test themselves against future Tall Blacks and NBA prospects.”
The team would love to have everyone come along to support the boys and ensure home court advantage with the team looking to put on a great performance, as well as being a part of something that could see the boys make Sancta Maria College Basketball history.
