Alexandria and Samara win speech competition

Wednesday morning the Year 9s and 10s watched the highly intense final of our school speech competition. Each homeroom had an extremely talented representative, leading to an amazing final round.

Many of the speech topics were unique, including ‘How I wrote my speech in one night’, and ‘You are not special.’ All of the speeches were incredible not only in terms of writing, but in presentation – the audience was wowed by the confidence and passion shown by each class representative. Some made us laugh, some made us think and others made us change for the better.

After what must have been a difficult time considerating all the fine speeches the 3 judges revealed the winners.

From the Year 9s, Alexandria Lazatin came first, with her topic ‘Hope and the Environment’ – a powerful and moving speech on the impact of our actions, causing the awed audience to listen in silence.

Samara Anubhav was the winner of the Year 10s. She talked about the future of technology. Her speech opened our eyes to the negative side of us wanting smarter, better and more advanced technology.

All of the speeches were of a high standard, not only in terms of writing, but in presentation – the audience was wowed by the confidence and passion shown by each class representative.
