As the natural lighting faded and darkness arrived, our school was transformed with beautiful, illuminated sculptures, projections, neon interactive spaces and performances from our very talented students.
Art students and teachers at Sancta Maria College worked tirelessly throughout the year to showcase ART in the DARK which took place on Friday 4 August 2023 from 5- 7pm. The Music Department also kindly joined Art and presented a wonderful play list of outstanding music bringing vitality to the whole event. A special thank you to The Rolling Johnstones and The Jazzatrons who really helped transform the evening.
Performance artists, wearing light suits, danced, and moved give the illusionary experience even more depth. In addition to the students work, the audience creatively activated dark spaces using neon (washable) paint, (removable) stickers and highlighters. Other sculptures filled the shadowy areas in the courtyard and student work was projected to engage the viewer. It was a hugely successful, exciting, and vibrant event that was well attended and enjoyed by all.
