Our annual Assumption Mass was held in the Auditorium on Wednesday, 17 August to commemorate Mary getting assumed into heaven!
The Mass, celebrated by Fr Sherwin, began with an opening welcome from Lavinia Shaba and Sean Carlos – our Deputy Head Prefects for Special Character. During the homily, we watched a short video from the Catholic Church and how they have helped and educated people around the world. There was some wonderful singing and prayers throughout Mass, which ended with a liturgical dance after communion choreographed by Cyprus to the song ‘I’ll sing a hymn to Mary’. To conclude Mass, Ms Moore gave a thank you speech to acknowledge the invited guests and our school sung the upbeat hymn, ‘Shine Jesus Shine’ – some senior students did some rhythmic movements to mirror the lyrics.
A special thank you all who made the Mass special, but in particular to Mr Tamayo, Mrs Oliver, the choir, altar servers, readers, eucharistic ministers, sound crew and musicians who all contributed to make the Mass a spiritual experience for all.
