On Monday 20 June Ms Turner invited Dieneke Jansen into the Sancta Maria College Art Department to speak to the Level 3 Photography students.
Dieneke is a well-known NZ, lens-based artist whose recent projects have involved exploring current habitations of low socioeconomic groups in Auckland, Holland and Indonesia. In 2013 she was awarded the New Zealand National Contemporary Art Award and in 2015 Dieneke was invited to make work for the Jakarta Beinnale.
Dieneke gave an informative talk about documentary photography which engaged the students and prompted their thinking. Later the students were invited to view a video about the Visual Arts course at AUT and given tips on submitting their portfolios for entry.
