Jeremy Dreyer, Sophia Millantoni, Keira Heffernan (top row) and Bryce Emshoff, Leticia El-Boutty and Elijah Rata (bottom row) joined in the mufti day which raised $1137.20 for next term’s junior school production of ‘High School Musical’. Having lead roles in the production they were very keen to help out with the fund raising.

Fourteen of our students headed off to Waiuku Forest yesterday to compete in the Auckland Secondary Schools Orienteering Championships. The students performed well, with Alicia McGivern placing 8th in the Y7/8 Championship group with a time of 26.08 minutes. Isaac Sheng finished 4th in the Y7/8 boys’ standard section with a time of 26.14.

In support of mental health, many Sancta Maria College students and staff chose to switch their everyday school shoes for the traditional Kiwi Gumboot on Friday. The money raised from this initiative will help fund free counselling for students.

Last Thursday at Cockle Bay Tennis Club, eight of our students represented Sancta Maria College at the South Eastern Zone (SEZ) Junior tennis competition, for Year 7 and 8 students. It was the first competition in three years as the last two tournaments had been rained out.

On March 30, more than 100 NCEA biology students from all over Auckland, gathered in Sancta Maria College’s auditorium to attend a NCEA Level 3 Biology curriculum and scholarship talk.

A group of students from the College chamber group were lucky enough to receive mentoring from Rachel Moody, one of the Auckland Philharmonia’s violin players.

Sancta Maria College’s debating team of Meggy Laguda, Danica Loulie-Wijtenburg and Kelly Mascarenhas emerged triumphant in the annual Zonta Debate against Botany College, retaining the trophy and giving us a 7-6 lead over our opponents.

Despite the strong winds, depleted numbers and having to perform without a conductor, our school’s senior choir, Sanctus, pulled off an outstanding performance at the recent Botanic Gardens event, the Eye on Nature Family Fun Day.

Our boys made an outstanding debut at this 3X3 tournament, which is basketball’s version of Rugby 7s, going into the competition seeded 20th and claiming 8th place.
