To wrap up the Year 9 EOTC Events, including movie time, art and sports, and a long walk, the Year 9s went to the Pop-Up Globe to see a performance of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew.

Orienteering – a fun sport where you run around, hunting for tags and racing other people to collect every tag first. Thanks to Counties Manukau Orienteering, all the Year 7 – 9 students (the Year 10s day was cancelled due to the weather) at SMC got the amazing opportunity to spend a day learning how the sport works.

Lights. Camera. Action! Not exactly… This week the Peer Support dance competition winner was announced during our school assembly. After many weeks of hard practising, choreographing and sweating, the results are in for the Year 8 dance-off.

Nine Year 10 girls from our Digital Technologies classes travelled with Mrs Caudy to an Innovative day at Techtorium in Newmarket.

It’s been a busy and effective afternoon for the 30 volunteers who turned up in front of CG6 at 3.30pm yesterday. Over the last month, the school community was given the option to sign up for this amazing opportunity to make a difference to the environment.

What more could you expect with lots of food filling 7LIS at lunch! The smell of Christmas themed cookies filled the class, making our tummies rumble and mouths water.

Hannah Caudy (Year 7) and Laurence Stewart (Year 8) recently had an unforgettable opportunity to participate in a drumming workshop with APO’s principal percussionist Eric Renick.

2018 was another successful year for the Year 7 Peer Support Sing-off. Each homeroom class worked hard to create a song for this annual singing competition. This year, 7BRN’s four-year winning streak came to an end with 7DNN taking out the winning spot.

Last night the Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) held their 2018 Prizegiving Awards for their Trades Academy students. These Year 12 and Year 13 students attended MIT one or two days a week while continuing to attend high school on the remaining days.

Last Monday, several students were given the opportunity to go to the Auckland University through the BEAMS Programme. Miriama Magele Rees, Aaliyah Peterson-Tamakehu, Greer Puekiti, Emily Sheck, Jireh Fogavia, Letisia Fifita, Saffine Warren, Gabriel Grant and Gemma Holt, accompanied by Ms Judd all attended this day.
