Change is difficult to facilitate. There’s no way to make someone care about something. Making someone do something as opposed to them doing it out of their own free will is pointless anyway. So, why do I care?

On a day filled with unpredictable weather, a ray of sunshine shone upon a selected number of Year 10 students who went to the V8 Supercars event to see live action racing cars and understand how the application of what we learn in school, particularly in science and mathematics, helps in their development.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well. (Psalm 139:14)

These words from the psalms gave the Year 8 Retreat its theme.

Now that the senior students are on study leave the Year 9s and 10s have taken the opportunity to step up as members of the News Centre team.

On Thursday 13 Year 10 students of Maori descent had the opportunity to go on a Maori course at MIT, to learn the importance of their culture and become inspired for future careers.

The school was paid a special visit by members of St Vincent De Paul to acknowledge Sancta Maria College’s acts of service throughout the year.

Gemma Deftereos (pictured) and Kelly Feng took out the major awards at tonight’s ceremony. Gemma won the Navigator Award while Kelly is Year 13 Dux.

At the annual Thanksgiving Mass the Year 13 students were encouraged to ‘go out into the world and proclaim the gospel to all nations’ (Matt 16:15).

For their contribution to the work of the SPCA the students of 10GNS were presented with a certificate and badge by the SPCA Ambassador Laura, and her dog Mika.

“Winners are not people who never fail but people who never quit!” A valuable lesson learned from our special guest speaker, Tyla Nathan-Wong, embedded in the minds of Sancta Maria College’s young sportsmen and sportswomen at our 2017 Sports Prizegiving.
