With the wet grounds of the school to run on and countless terrorists to avoid, approximately 60 senior students spent the night on school grounds to fight for survival.
Well, not quite but close enough. These senior students took part in this year’s Caritas Challenge to show solidarity with those experiencing hardships in Cambodia. In addition to a draining 7 hours at school, students stayed the night to learn more about not only the Cambodians’ struggles but also the struggles of those living in other third world countries.
Participants also engaged in various activities which enabled them to more deeply empathise with those in Cambodia. Of course, very minimal sleep and food for 24 hours is nothing compared to what actually happens. However, it was a little insight into refugees’ lives and was worthwhile opportunity for a very worthy cause.
The experience ended with a Mass, and despite the tired eyes and hungry stomachs, it was a rejuvenating time to reflect and give thanks for all the blessings we have.
“Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.” – Psalm 41:1
